Language Policy Biliteracy and trilingualism are emphasized in our school and we aim to create an effective language learning environment. Besides native English teachers, the English Corner also creates a platform for students to improve speaking skills by talking to our NET and engaging in English learning activities. Meanwhile, students are welcome to chat with our native Putonghua teacher after class. In addition, diversified language learning activities, such as Speech Festival (English, Putonghua & Cantonese), Drama Festival (Cantonese & Putonghua) etc, are organized in order to provide more opportunities to exercise biliteracy and trilingualism. Our school also implements free programs, e.g., after-class tutorials, English Enhancement Program, and Enrichment & Remedial Classes. Furthermore, we cultivate reading habits of our students and encourage them to take part in Writing Competitions.
Learning and Teaching Strategies Our school adopts a student-centred approach, embraces diversified learning modes and nurtures students’ self-learning ability. According to students’ learning abilities & needs, we have adopted small class teaching and tailor-made the curriculum. Teachers are encouraged to conduct collaborative lesson preparation & peer lesson observation, which allow them to share strategies & skills in increasing learning effectiveness. We implement the BYOD policy to encourage wiser use of e-learning platforms and flipped classroom strategy. All subject departments have adopted e-learning strategies to enhance teaching effectiveness. Furthermore, we provide small-group enrichment/remedial programs for students of different abilities to sharpen their thinking & study skills.

Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity Student Support Committee stream students into small classes according to their abilities & needs. In some form levels, Chinese, English & Mathematics Departments adopt split-class teaching. The curriculum, pedagogical strategies & assessments are adjusted when needed. Besides providing After-school Tutorials & Enrichment Programs, lessons are tailored to suit different learning needs. We provide a range of learning experiences to unleash students’ potential.
Approach to Integrated Education Student Support Committee is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the whole school approach to integrated education. Members include Vice-Principal, Counseling Master, SENCO, Chinese/English/Mathematics teachers, counselor, social workers & educational psychologist. We use the Learning Support Grant & Grant for Supporting NCS Students with SEN to offer professional support, e.g. recruiting teaching assistants, speech therapy, clinical psychology service, literacy class, individual education plan and art class. We circulate SEN support information to teachers so that they can tailor the curriculum and review students’ progress through panel meetings & collaborative lesson preparation. We provide special examination arrangements for students in need, e.g. extra time, special venue & speech-to-text software. We also organize a variety of personal growth programs & inclusion activities to boost students’ confidence and foster an inclusive culture on campus, including talks, movies & Adventure-Ship Buddies Program . We keep in touch with parents of SEN students through calls, meetings & student support records. Parents can obtain relevant information and express their views through these channels of home-school communication & cooperation. Besides support from a school-based educational psychologist of Po Leung Kuk, we encourage teachers to undertake continuing professional development and share their experiences to upgrade our student support capabilities.
