Language Policy |
Our school emphasizes the promotion of students’ biliterate and trilingual abilities, in particular achieving excellence in both English and Chinese languages. We provide different opportunities to cater for the diverse language needs and abilities of our students. English is adopted as the medium of instruction in some non-language subjects in some classes, as total immersion, to pave the way for students to the Senior Secondary Curriculum and to future studies. In the same way, Chinese is adopted as the medium of instruction to students who benefit most from it while extended learning activities are added to stretch their English potential. To enrich every student’s exposure to English, there are various fun-filled activities to cultivate a language rich environment and a Drama-in-Education junior curriculum has been implemented to promote students’ interests to learn English in an experiential and creative manner. |

Our school utilises the "Learning Support Grant" to let teachers adopt the "Whole-Schools Approach" model. The grant is used to employ a student counsellor and two teaching assistants. The purpose is to support teachers in handling SEN students to reduce SEN students’ learning barriers and cope with their emotions. The grant is also used to purchase professional services for the SEN students concerned such as Chinese literacy training, group training on concentration, speech therapy and cognitive-emotional behavioral therapy, etc. In regard to student personal growth and emotional support, Student Support Team holds a group about stress management and Drama Club. By exposing to diversified group activities, students develop positive thinking and establish a healthy self-image. To promote the idea of peer support, a peer reading programme ― 'The Buddy Reading Scheme' is held by Student Support Team on a regular basis. Student Support Team and Careers Counselling Team jointly organise career planning activities for junior form students. As for senior form students, they are invited to participate in summer placement scheme to broaden their horizons.
