Language Policy |
We aim to train our students to be biliterate and trilingual through intra-school and inter-school activities. Under the Fine-tuning language policy, English is used as a medium of instructions in some Form 1-3 classes/subjects. (Please refer to Subjects offered in the 2022/23 & 2023/24 school year) We offer extended learning activities in English for subjects such as Mathematics, Integrated Science, Integrated Humanities in junior forms. In junior forms, we organize drama performances, writing courses, oral workshops and an online reading programme. We organize a Form 3 Bridging course which aims to enable students to study the non-language subjects in English. Depending on students' Putonghua ability of Form 1 and Form 2 students, we may offer one class using Putonghua to teach Chinese. We offer a wide range of activities such as Chinese week, English Week, an Online reading Programme and Putonghua competition. We also train students for National Putonghua Proficiency Test. |
Learning and Teaching Strategies |
In junior forms, the three core subjects as well as Integrated Humanities, Integrated Science, History, Geography, Life & Society and Integrated Business aim to improve students' Chinese, English and Putonghua standard and their thinking skills and various generic skills. We also nurture generic skills and analytical power through life-wide learning period, project learning and collaborative learning. In senior forms, we help students to excel in public examinations. We encourage students to set targets and run homework assistance schemes after school to nurture their perseverance. Based on each key learning area, cross-curriculum collaboration and activities are incorporated to enhance our students' generic skills and learning effectiveness. Moreover, we place great emphasis on bridging the gap between the curriculum and students' learning ability in junior and senior forms. We offer a great variety of elective subjects, part of which are in both Chinese and English to cater for students' diversities and interests. To enhance students' ability and interest in reading, we conduct Reading Award Schemes, iLearner and Online Reading Programmes. We focus on nurturing students' self-directed learning through pre-lesson assignments and online self-learning systems to establish our students' self-learning habit. Also, our school develops e-learning proactively, making use of different platforms for teachers and students to carry out online learning to match the trend of learning development. |

Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity |
We collaborate with EDB as well as School-based support teams. Tailor-made materials, diverse teaching strategies and assessment methods are adopted to cater for students' diversity. We stream students into different groups based on their learning or language abilities. In senior forms we adopt both Chinese and English as medium of instruction in some of the elective subjects. We offer remedial and enhancement classes after school and on Saturdays. We also promote courses to gifted students and discover and train students with potentials in languages, Maths & Science, technology and leadership through school-based courses. Apart from learning aspects, we arrange for a teacher with professional qualifications in counselling to offer counselling service to students. We may coordinate with parents, social workers and education psychologists to provide an individual education plan to help students in need. |
Approach to Integrated Education |
The aims of the integrated education in our school are to assist students with special educational needs (SENs) to be accustomed to the campus life and allow other students to accept and care about SENs, so that a harmonious school atmosphere can be achieved. A SEN committee consisting of teachers, social workers and educational psychologists is established in our school. The school-based SEN social workers and educational psychologists provide consultation, counselling and group activities for students and parents regularly to cater for their needs. Also, uniform test and examination reviewing class conducted by Alumni tutors is arranged to render assistance to students with learning difficulties. We also offer emotional support so as to foster students’ all-round development and a healthy, positive mindset to face their campus lives. Different assessments, treatment services and special homework and examination arrangements are provided by the professionals. Personalized study plans would also be drawn up and executed, and the students’ learning would be monitored and discussed with parents, teachers and educational psychologists on a regular basis. By doing so, the students’ needs would be better understood with provision of effective support. We hold a range of activities throughout the school year to let students realize the diversity and differences of humans through games, experiences and film appreciation. This also brings up a message of acceptance and tolerance, which helps foster a culture of mutual respect and campus integration. |
