Language Policy |
We are committed to developing students' bi-literate and tri-lingual competence. We pay special attention to our students' English proficiency. In response to the fine-tuning of our teaching medium of instruction, we have introduced the Cross-curricular Language Enhancement Scheme. Integrated Humanities (an integration of Social Studies, Geography and Finance Fundamentals) and Integrated Science (including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Science) for S.1-S.3 are taught in English and we have introduced Life-wide Learning / Life-wide English, cross-curricular Extended English courses, English Library Periods, After-school Great English Movies and SolidMemory Learning Platform to help our students build up a strong language foundation. There are approximately twenty core and elective subjects we offer in NSS, all of which are taught in English, with the exception of Chinese Language, Citizenship and Social Development, Chinese History, Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Health Management and Social Care and Visual Arts. Cross-curricular language learning and English mathematics supplementary programmes are used to prepare junior form students for the HKDSE curriculum. |
Learning and Teaching Strategies |
We aim at enhancing students' ability in "Learning to Learn" through various programmes, including "Reading to Learn" and "Project Learning". Quality Assignment Design, Enhancement, Sustainable Support and Remedial Classes, Careers & Life Planning, Multiple Intelligences & Gifted Education and Learning Summer Revision Courses are designed to enhance the students' learning effectiveness. We aim at all-rounded and balanced development of students. The school provides necessary resources and creates capacity for quality education. We have established various uniformed groups and sports teams to help develop students' self-discipline, cooperation and self-esteem. In addition, reading schemes are implemented in the subjects of Chinese and English in a sense of Content Area Reading in collaboration with the Library lesson. |
School-based curriculum |
1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Chinese History, Geography, Economics, Visual Arts, Information and Communication Technology, Mathematics Extended Modules, Business, Accounting and Financial Studies, Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Health Management and Social Care.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: To better prepare our students for STEM education, we introduced the STEM Laboratory in 2017-2018 to allow teachers to organize various STEM teaching and learning activities. STEM lessons in S.2 level are designed to teach students to use Micro:bit to learn coding. To cater for students' diverse needs, the school inquiry-based Integrated Science curriculum has been developed for our S.3 students. All subjects stress the importance of interactive learning, autonomous learning, "tablet-based online learning" and elearning, experiential learning, service learning, arts education, and life planning in their curriculum. |
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity |
We adapted the Whole School Approach to Integrated Education Scheme in September 2008. Some of our teachers have completed the necessary training as required. In addition, the school has adopted the three-tiers mechanism to cultivate our talented and gifted students and assist their learning progress with after-school enhancement support and tutorial classes. |
Approach to Integrated Education |
Our Student Support Team consists of the Vice Principal, SENCO, guidance teacher, Chinese, English or Mathematics teachers, the School Social Worker, Teaching Assistant, Speech Therapists and Educational Psychologist. Besides conducting assessments of the students, the Educational Psychologist (EP) has also attended the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) Meeting with the Parents, so as to formulate and evaluate the effectiveness of the IEP. The EP also conducts Parents workshops to help them master effective caring and teaching skills. In addition to the professional development training program provided by the EP, teachers are also encouraged to attend the training course provided by the tertiary Institute, so as to strengthen the competence of the teachers to take care of the students with Special Educational Needs. Our school uses the Learning Support Grant and other resources to employ 2 teaching assistants and to buy professional services including an attention training programme, learning difficulties training programme and school-based speech therapy services etc., to give interdisciplinary cooperation support to the students, so as to raise the students’ academic achievement. To allow the students to recognize the presence of people of different needs in society, and cultivate an inclusive campus, we organize various activities such as sharings by guests with special needs education background. Furthermore, this encourages students to take part in inclusive experiential activities. Our school also strives to enhance cooperation with parents, members of student support team will communicate with the parents from time to time and the speech therapist also give professional advice to the parents. |

Home-School Co-operation |
The Parent-Teacher Association of our school is the major link between the school and parents. It offers valuable support to the healthy development of our students, helps to organize activities, both educational and recreational, to strengthen the communication and understanding among all key stakeholders. The Parent-Teacher Association has also organized seminars and workshops related to child education. As for professional development, educational visits to China have been organized. Outings and cooking classes are organized every year to promote good family connections and home-school cooperation. To provide quality education for our students, our PTA believes that the school, teachers and parents should collaborate closely to help our students excel and grow. |
School Ethos |
We emphasize the cultivation of moral values, positive attitudes and firm discipline of our students. We aim at educating our students to be good citizens who are self-reflective, self-disciplined and self-reliant. We will organize activities to cultivate positive life values among students. Apart from these, more support services are available, such as the school social workers and education psychologists who offer counseling service and timely support to students in need. |

Seminars and workshops, which are organized by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, are well-received by our teachers. Teachers show enthusiasm in taking part in the activities and courses organized by the EDB and other institutions. |
Life-wide Learning |
Activity-based learning and Chinese Martial Arts are incorporated into the school curriculum. There are more than forty academic, aesthetics, sports, service and interests clubs. There are also moral and civic education thematic events, environmental education activities, project learning, life-wide learning activities, excursions, Marching Band performances and community service, etc. Every year, we have a Swimming Gala, Athletics Meet, outings and study trips. |
