Language Policy With the exception of Chinese Language, Chinese History, Chinese Literature, Putonghua, Health Management and Social Care, Citizenship and Social Development, all subjects adopt English as the medium of instruction.
Learning and Teaching Strategies Our teachers are dedicated to coping with learner diversity and actively engage in continuous professional development. All the teachers acquire basic computer skills to apply I.T. in learning and teaching. Besides stressing academic pursuits, our school also focuses on life-wide learning. In order to cultivate students’ reading interest, we encourage students to join various reading schemes. Apart from the school-based Chinese/English Extensive Reading Scheme, we provide reading period every Thursday morning. Students are encouraged to read Chinese and English reading materials and magazines. This broadens students’ mind and outlook on life. We also hold regular activities like sharing of must-read books, talks by authors, book exhibitions and Reading Month to foster a culture of reading in students.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Our School offers 3X classes (for students taking three electives) and 2X classes (for students taking two electives) in S.4 to S.6.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: <br>Chinese Language: <br> (1) Foundation curriculum for consolidation; <br> (2) Chinese culture;<br> (3) Ancient Language; <br> (4) Speech Training, such as presentation, discussion, debate. <br>English Language: <br> (1) Integration of Language Arts & Non-Language Arts into the mainstream curriculum, such as learning of English through movies & drama, learning English through social issues. <br> (2) Debate, drama, public speaking training.

Approach to Integrated Education Our school endeavours to cultivate an inclusive environment for our students. We have adopted the Whole School Approach to support our students with special educational needs (SEN). Through resources allocation and professional intervention, students with SEN have all along been provided with timely and diversified support services to enhance their learning effectiveness and help them adapt to the school life.<br><br>The Student Learning & Support Team is set up to cater for the diversified needs of students with SEN. The core members include the Assistant Principal, SEN Coordinator, Guidance & Counselling Mistress, Discipline Mistress, Careers & Life Planning Mistress, Prefects of Studies, Educational Psychologist, school social workers and teaching assistant of integrated education. Our school has systematically developed professional training plans for teachers on this area. Resources are deployed to provide appropriate and diversified support for students with diverse needs so as to assist them in adapting to the school life and achieving the desired learning outcomes. Students are provided with multiple support measures, like differentiated teaching, assessment accommodations and pull-out remedial lessons. We seek for professional support and offer guidance groups, reading and writing training groups, social skills and emotional management skills training groups, occupational therapy services, speech therapy services, attention training and individualized education plans to students with SEN. Individual counselling and assessment are also provided for students with SEN.<br><br>Our school treasures home-school cooperation by establishing regular communication channels to facilitate parents’ participation in the formulation of policy on student support.<br>
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation The PTA serves well as a bridge between parents and our school. It is supportive of school development and student learning. PTA scholarships are awarded to students with excellent performance in social services and outstanding academic achievements. Parents are often available on campus. Some caring parents undertake voluntary work for our school on a daily basis. It is also commendable that some helpful and thoughtful parents never hesitate to render assistance in an array of school activities.
School Ethos Our school strives to provide quality education and promote a pleasurable learning environment. The active collaboration of the Discipline Team and the Guidance and Counselling Team has helped to nurture positive attitudes and values in students. Remedial and consolidation classes and mass programmes are organised to support students’ diverse needs. The Student Association functions effectively to organize wide-ranging activities for students.

Life-wide Learning There are 20 extra-curricular activity clubs which are divided into 4 categories: academic clubs, interest clubs, uniformed groups & service teams as well as sports association. Striving for academic excellence, our school also emphasizes the importance of diversified extra-curricular activities, community services, training courses and leadership training camps to nurture students’ generic skills. Furthermore, our students made remarkable achievements in inter-school English debate competitions and inter-school ball games competitions. In music, with our well-trained Chinese Orchestra and Symphonic Band, we provide diversified music activities, namely music concerts, public music performances and mainland as well as overseas exchange programmes to broaden students’ global vision.
