Language Policy |
To cater for students’ abilities and learning needs, school implements the whole-school language policy. For Chinese-speaking classes, the medium of instruction (MOI) is Cantonese while the medium of instruction (MOI) is English Language for non-Chinese speaking classes. The school has hired two foreign teachers to carry out activities such as English essay contest, story speech contest and drama contest to encourage students to use English and create an English learning environment. The school regularly arranges diversified extracurricular language learning activities to broaden the learning experience of students and increase the opportunities for students to use biliteracy and trilingualism. |
Learning and Teaching Strategies |
School-based curriculum design and a wide range of strategies to cater for learner diversity are adopted on subject basis. The implementation of "diversity assessment" can let students of different abilities and talents showcase their learning outcomes. Cross-curricular learning activities enable students to apply what they have learned from various subjects and construct knowledge. To arouse students’ learning motivation and to maximize learning outcomes, is initiated. Teachers of Science, Design and Technology and Information Technology, and Mathematics collaborate to organize cross-curricular school-based STEM activities. The school has initiated a Talent Nurturing Program to aggregate and deploy different resources to discover and nurture the uniqueness and talents of the students, so that their future lives will shine. |

1. Electives: 2X. School-based curriculum: Two elective subjects (2X) are offered in senior secondary level, and the option to take Mathematics Extended Module 2 (M2) or Applied Learning Course “Multimedia Storytelling”.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: The school’s School-based DICT and STEM school-based courses development has three objectives, namely to help others solve problems, to help improve the lives of the elderly, and to make the world a better place through different inventions. Based on the three objectives, the students develop different products and contribute to the community. The school sets up school-based curriculum in response to the different learning abilities of the junior form students and adapts the content accordingly to teach the basic knowledge of design, technology and computer. |
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity |
Whole School Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity: The school has established a complete student support and counselling system. Through the accompaniment and listening of teachers, support from pastoral and care teachers, and timely support from professional social workers and counsellors, students’ problems can be properly and promptly resolved. Chinese, English, Mathematics, and Liberal Studies, are taught in small groups according to the ability of students. Our school provides appropriate individual adaptation arrangement for non-Chinese-speaking students with special educational needs. We also provide diversified activities throughout the school to prevent problems and cultivate student growth. |
Approach to Integrated Education |
Student Support Group is composed of the SEN coordinator and teachers, the educational psychologist, the speech therapist, counsellors, school social workers, subject teachers and other supporting staff. Provide reading and writing trainings; social skills trainings; concentration and attentiveness trainings and counselling services to students with special learning difficulties. Organizes talks and seminars to respective parents. Parent groups are formed To enhance family-school communication and cooperation. Relevant learning and support news are disseminated and parents’ opinions are collected. Trainings by the school educational psychologist and speech therapist are arranged for teacher professional development. |

School Development Plan |
School Development Plan: The school is committed to becoming a school of the future. With the full support of Wofoo Foundation, the old electronic workshop has been transformed into iLAB, a futuristic artificial intelligence classroom; it enables teaching students with brand new concepts on how students to utilize advanced computers and teaching equipment, so that students can master the popular AI skills. We successfully applied for a special grant from the Quality Education Fund (QEF) to establish a GERONTECH PARK, a gerontech studio to improve the quality of life of the elderly. By simulating the home life of the elderly, students can develop their creativity in an environment of advanced facilities and interactive real-world learning. We have added an "Ecological Education Park", plant different types of plants that attract butterflies, provide urban habitats for butterflies, and achieve the conservation of butterflies. The park cooperates with the school-based STEM curriculum to provide students with an authentic environment for learning artificial intelligence technology, and to improve the teaching efficiency of technology and environmental education. Through the school-wide service learning program, students will build a sense of belonging to the school and the community, and become caring and committed people. The recognition of the characteristics of service learning enhances students' social, collaboration and communication skills, and increase students' self-esteem, self-image and self-confidence. By in-depth understanding of group needs and social phenomena, enhancing personal, social and civic responsibility, and paying attention to community needs, students believe that they can bring changes to the community - Make the world a better place. |
Teacher Professional Training and Development |
Teacher Professional Training and Development: The full implementation of different levels of professional training includes: New teacher training, subject-based training, whole school teaching strategy training, middle management training, SEN training, observation and exchange with other schools. "Lesson Walk-through" is carried out. Implement "Classroom Visits", through the "observation - sharing - amendment" cycle, so that teachers share with each other and promote professional exchanges. The school has participated in the EDB School-based Support Programme (both Chinese and English subjects) and School-based Curriculum Development Programs (cooperating with universities, including Chinese, English, and Mathematics) to enhance teachers’ professional level. The school has joined “Project Zero”, a project organized by the Harvard Graduate School of Education, to implement innovation in education and teacher training, with a mission to shape future education and future school. |
Life-wide Learning |
Whole-person Well-being Learning Experience, school team and specialized training, student union and four Houses. Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust for the " Jockey Club Project Well-being ", we have established "Soul Suite" which includes a kitten house, a garden and a mindfulness centre. These places serve to cultivate the physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being of teachers and students. Conduct a weekly Whole-person Well0being Learning Experience (WLE) group activities every Friday. There are about 20 events and activities that help build whole-person well-being for the students to choose from. Recruit students to become cat volunteers and learn to develop a sense of responsibility and respect for life through taking care of the cats. The school has a number of school teams and specialized training, covering sports, music, technology, vocational skills, etc. Professionals or coaches are employed to teach the students, so that they can continually develop their interests and skills. We link school teams, specialized training and student organizations with life planning education. It is expected that students will develop common skills and attitudes required for life planning while developing their potential and participating in school and community affairs, so as to get prepared for the different stages of life in the future. |
