English enhancement and remedial classes are tailor-made for students with different learning needs. English oral practices are arranged periodically throughout the school term. Students take turns to lead prayers in English during morning assemblies. Display boards and circulars posted around the school are in English. Also, a vast array of English full-filled activities like Public Speaking Competitions, English Week, English Drama, English Musical, Reading Schemes, Movie Appreciation and Book Fairs are held to create an English-rich environment.
2. Learning and Teaching Strategies Our school is dedicated to promote reading and language across curriculum, widening students’ horizons, increasing their sensitivity and consolidating their good foundation to equip them with hands-on skills to take on challenges in an ever-changing world. A reflective learning mode is adopted in different learning activities to guide students to be observant and reflective, to learn from their past experience, to seek the truth, and to construct new knowledge through deep learning and analysis. Working with EDB Language Learning and Support Section, the school’s English Panel coordinates with different panels to launch cross disciplinary learning activities to brush up students’ related English language skills. To promote the use of IT in learning and teaching, panels use a variety of software and tools to assist in classroom teaching and extra-curricular activities. Meanwhile, through curriculum mapping, students have a taste of AI. Coding and Application Skills. At times, these e-resources and self-directed learning platforms enable students to share learning materials and enhance their teaching and learning efficacy.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 3X. Basically three elective subjects or elective subjects with Applied Learning Courses. Students are given the chance to make informed decision in the choice of their elective subjects under teachers' guidance and a careful consideration of their competence and interest.
2. Curriculum highlights: School-based curriculum is in place and adopted in our junior form subjects to cater for learner diversity.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity We pay close attention to different educational needs of students and adopt a whole-school approach to deploy resources to cater for learner diversity. Split-class teaching, remedial and elite classes are provided in tandem with graded materials and after-school learning activities to enhance students' competence. Students are encouraged to strive for academic excellence and high achievers are selected to participate in activities including competitions outside school, inter-school activities, exchange programmes and university courses to further develop their abilities. We are also committed to implementing STEM education, further strengthening students’ ability to integrate and apply knowledge and skills through STEM activities or projects. The Guidance Team also embarks on "Rainbow Scheme", an after-school learning support programme for students with learning difficulties.
Approach to Integrated Education We adopt a whole-school approach to Integrated Education. The Student Support Team works with the Educational Psychologist and Speech Therapist to implement appropriate support measures to cater for our SEN students. Speech therapy, guidance service, training sessions and Inclusive Learning Workshop are organized to enhance students’ awareness and respect for individual differences. Regular meetings with parents of students with SEN are held to inform them of the progress of the students. Teachers are encouraged to attend relevant courses to enhance their professional capacity.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was established in 1993, acting as a bridge between parents and the school and promoting the home-school cooperation. Such a collaboration facilitates good bonding among the school, parents and students and helps our girls grow healthily under love and care. The PTA hosts the annual general meeting and organises various activities every year including workshops, various outdoor activities, and visits, and issues PTA newsletters. Scholarships and special grants are generously offered by our parents to students with outstanding academic performance, services inside and outside school, and financial needs.
School Ethos In line with the spirit of Jesus’ love and the Catholic core values, our school is dedicated to providing holistic education to help students develop as all-rounded woman leaders. We are committed to realizing students' potential and grooming them into motivated lifelong learners, caring individuals with a strong sense of social responsibility and national identity. Such a distinctive student profile has been fostered and strengthened by our school's student support measures as demonstrated in a dual form-teacher system, parents’ meetings, parents' days and programmes held by the Parent-Teacher Association, and in-depth guidance and counselling service provided by the school educational psychologist and school social workers. Big sisters and prefects are nurtured as prominent student leaders to help junior form students in the areas of academic achievement and whole-person development.
