Language Policy English is used as the medium of instruction. For details, please refer to the subjects offered/to be offered in the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 school years. We implement the policy of "bi-literacy and tri-lingualism" through the Chinese and English Reading Award Scheme and a variety of English and Putonghua activities.
Learning and Teaching Strategies 1. Based on the belief of "good education comes after good discipline", we cultivate self-discipline, independent thinking and righteousness among our students.<br>2. An open and pleasant learning environment is provided for students to unleash their potential. <br>3. Each subject develops their own diverse school-based curriculum and lesson design, and arrange peer lesson observation and learning & teaching surveys. In addition, evaluation tools are designed to enhance teaching quality and effectiveness.<br>4. Our refined homework policy and ongoing feedback given to students help enhance their learning.<br>5. KLA Coordinators and Academic Form Coordinators coordinate cross-curricular learning activities and deal with academic affairs of different forms.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 3X. 11 elective subjects are offered. Subject combinations are decided according to students’ preferences and our resources.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: <br>i) School-based curriculums are implemented in STEM, Information & Communication Technology, Life & Society, Life Education and Reading lessons in junior forms. <br>ii) There is no streaming in junior forms. We place emphasis on peer learning and mutual progress. <br>iii) Students of various potentials are encouraged to join gifted programmes inside and outside school, and to take international assessments. After-school tutorial classes & study groups are also offered to students who need more support. <br>iv) Various OLE activities are arranged according to students' needs & interests on Other Learning Experience (OLE) days.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity 1. Our school provides scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievements and students showing improvement.<br>2. There is no streaming in junior forms. We place emphasis on peer learning and mutual progress.<br>3. Each subject has their strategies in class and after class to address learner diversity.<br>4. Study rooms operate until 7p.m., which allows students to have self-study and group discussion. <br>5. With the S1 student support program, counselling prefects who are big brothers and sisters with good academic performance and conduct help take care of junior form students.<br>6. Our school makes use of different subsidies to help students take part in a variety of extracurricular activities and growth groups so as to develop their talents and potentials.
Approach to Integrated Education Our school strives to provide integrated education and promote an inclusive school culture. The Student Support Team is established to implement a comprehensive school policy on effectively catering for the needs of students with special education needs. The team members include a Special Educational Need Coordinator, SEN Support Teachers, an SEN Counselor, Social Workers, an Education Psychologist, a Clinical Psychologist and a Speech Therapist. Our school Student Support Team devises school-based student support plans, and flexibly uses the Learning Support Grant to recruit additional manpower and professional services to support students with special educational needs.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation We believe that quality home-school co-operation is essential to educating and disciplining students effectively. We regularly hold Parents' Days and other forms of meetings to enhance home-school communication. Teachers keep in contact with parents or meet them at school to foster home-school co-operation. Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is the bridge for home-school communication. PTA organizes the Annual General Meeting, Annual Dinner, Chinese New Year Food Workshop, Parent-Child Instrument Class, Cooking Competition, FloorCurling Tournament, Parent Tea Gatherings for All Levels, Parent Education Book Loan Service, Parent-child Picnic with teachers, and Voluntary Service etc.
School Ethos We uphold a positive school ethos, and students are self-disciplined. Pastoral Teachers and Counseling Prefects in our school provide extra support to junior form students. Life education and class teacher periods in our formal curriculum nurture our students to embrace the qualities of respect, perseverance, responsibility and commitment.
School Development Plan 1. To elevate academic and non-academic achievements through enhancing learning and teaching effectiveness and widening students’ exposure;<br>2. To enhance students’ well-being through cultivating positive values and appreciative ethos; <br>3. To foster biliteracy and trilingulism among students.
Teacher Professional Training and Development 1. Besides three Staff Development Days, our school encourages subject and functional group panels to organize internal and external academic exchange, conduct peer lesson observation and participate in different training programmes outside school. <br>2. Our school has established a Teachers’ Resource Center from which teachers can borrow books and materials on teaching methodology and teacher training. <br>3. There are teacher mentors helping new teachers adapt and fit in. <br>4. We provide subsidies for teachers to continue their professional development.
Life-wide Learning Our school encourages students to actively participate in extracurricular activities to invigorate their body and mind and reinforce team spirit and cooperation. Our school’s annual activities include the school picnic, Athletic Meet, Aquatic Meet, Christmas Party and post-exam activities. Besides, the Student Union organizes different inter-house and club activities. There are 49 groups including clubs related to sports, hobbies, academic affairs, moral values and service groups.
