Language Policy |
All subjects are taught in English except for Chinese Language, Chinese History, Putonghua and Religious Education. There is an English-rich environment at school to arouse students' interests in learning English, which are much enhanced by the provision of drama education in English lessons for S.1 and S.2 students. To enable students to be biliterate and trilingual, Putonghua lessons are designed for junior forms. |

In pursuance of the Christian spirit of benevolence, the school aims to provide quality education for girls, placing an equal emphasis on the moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic and spiritual aspects of students’ whole-person development to keep them develop their full potential. Through the learning process which focuses on proactive learning and independent thinking, students can acquire an inquiring mind, cultivate correct values and develop positive attitudes to life. |

1. Electives: 3X. Senior secondary students can choose two to three electives from a variety of subjects.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: To realize our rationales in education and the learning needs of students, there are tailor-made learning materials for different subjects, while many school-based subjects, like Business Fundamentals, Life and Society in the junior secondary curriculum, Aesthetic Development in our senior secondary curriculum, and Career Education for both junior and senior forms are incorporated to provide quality learning experiences for our students. |
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity |
To cater students with individual needs, we have Guidance and Discipline Committee, Learning Support Committee, Gifted Education Committee and NCS Students' Education Working Group. The school arranges a variety of activities and workshops regularly, aims at cultivating students' interests and developing their potentials. |
Approach to Integrated Education |
The school is committed to building a culture of inclusiveness and caring by the whole school participation to support students with special educational needs. Students in need are provided with appropriate and diversified support services to enhance students' learning efficiency and help them integrate into campus life. The school values “home-school cooperation” and negotiates with parents on strategies to support students through different channels. The school has set up a special education support group consisting of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, the Special Educational Needs Supporting Teachers, teachers who have received special education training, social workers, an educational psychologist and a teaching assistant. The school has flexible use of the "Learning Support Grant" outsourcing emotional management training courses, speech therapy services, after-school learning motivation and skills enhancement classes, and inclusive activities. School social workers and educational psychologists also provide social skills training for students in need, arrange students to participate in volunteer services and visit different institutions to assist them in career planning. Speech therapists will also provide parents with professional advice to help students improve their speech problems at home. Students with special education needs can apply for special arrangements in internal and public examinations. The school provides information on the services of external organizations for students and their parents. It provides school based training workshops on "Caring for different learning needs" and arranges teachers to attend training courses run by EDB. |

Home-School Co-operation |
In order to facilitate the communication and cooperation of parents and school for the whole-person development of students, "True Light Girls' College Parent-Teacher Association" was established in 1999. The PTA holds and sponsors various activities, such as "Old Book Selling", "S.1 Form Association Inauguration Ceremony", "Annual Concert", "Reading Scheme" and parent talks. In the year 2011, TLGCPTA established “Student Activity Fund” aims at sponsoring students’ other learning experience activities, encouraging whole person development. |

The school motto is "Thou Art the Light of the World". In pursuance of the Christian spirit of love and equality, we engage ourselves in providing quality education for girls. We encourage our students to follow the teaching of Christ "to love thy neighbors as thyself" and develop a community spirit. Mentoring scheme is established so student leaders can serve as role models for junior students. It is hoped that students can be trained to be more self-disciplined. Through the establishment of Form Association and the mentoring schemes for S.6 and S.3, S.5 and S.2, S.4 and S.1, we aim at further fostering students' collaborative and co-operative spirit so that they can establish positive relationships with others. |

The school aims at nurturing students’ whole person development with the fine True Light education developed through years of quality education with sustained True Light legacies. Students’ learning effectiveness is to be further enhanced through self-directed learning and cross-curricular learning, while the school will be gearing towards STEM education to bring students to new horizons in learning. To cater for students’ diverse learning needs, provisions will be made at life planning, gifted education and special education needs. |
Teacher Professional Training and Development |
To facilitate the professional development of teachers, programs for:<br>(1) enhancing teaching and learning effectiveness (such as mobile learning in classroom, catering for students' diverse learning needs, developing students' self-directed learning skills);<br>(2) enriching knowledge and skills in student guidance (such as taking care of students with special educational needs, crisis management); and<br>(3) teachers' personal growth (such as teachers' retreat, Joint Christian schools spiritual enrichment talk) will be conducted. Mentorship scheme is designed for new teachers to facilitate their adaptation to school life. |
