Language Policy |
Placing a high value on "biliteracy and trilingualism", our school endeavours to enhance students' language ability and communication skills through both normal lessons and extra-curricular activities. Chinese is adopted as the medium of instruction from F.1 to F.3 in order to enhance the learning effectiveness of students. At the same time, some subjects will be taught in English to those students that are capable to learn in this language. F.4-F.6 students can choose either English or Chinese as the medium of instruction in some subjects, such as Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In addition, the school arranges some English bridging courses for F.4 students so as to prepare them for upper forms. |
Learning and Teaching Strategies |
By means of Life-Wide Learning: Project Learning, Reading to Learn, Moral and National Education and Information in Technology, student's self-learning initiatives can be fostered, and thereby students will be able to develop a positive attitude towards life. In addition, Continuous Assessment, being formally adopted, is to give both teachers and students a better understanding of the effectiveness of teaching and learning. School-based curriculum has been devised in some subjects in order to cater for students' potential, abilities and needs. It is hoped that students will have higher aspirations to learn. Moreover, there are various reading programmes including Chinese and English Extensive Reading Programme, Parents-Child Reading Scheme and Writing Class (Chinese Language) and Reading To Learn Programme. |

Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity |
In order to strengthen the caring culture at our school, the Guidance Team has carried out a variety of activities, such as Peer Counselling Programme, Project “Hope”, “Good Values” Award Scheme and “All-Stars: I Can”. The common purpose of all of these programmes has been to help our students to learn and to grow in a harmonious environment. Moreover, inclusive education is one important aspect of our school. With this in mind, a support team is established. It is to help those students who have learning difficulties. This involves individual counselling and adjustment of teaching and learning processes as well as assessment. The team keeps close contact with parents. Moreover, our school arranges enrichment and remedial classes of Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics for junior form students. In addition, there is an Elite Student Scheme in each subject in both junior and senior forms to further enhance the ability of the outstanding students. |
Approach to Integrated Education |
Whole School Approach to Integrated Education: Our school takes a comprehensive approach to inclusive education. We have a Student Support Team dedicated to planning and implementing inclusive education. Teachers receive ongoing training to cater to diverse learners. We utilize the Learning Support Grant and school resources to provide various support services for students with special educational needs. Activities such as social skills training and after-school support are arranged. We also hire professionals like speech therapists and occupational therapists. We assist students in applying for special examination arrangements and provide accommodations for tests and exams. Our curriculum, teaching strategies, and assignments are designed to enhance the learning effectiveness of students with special needs. Regular meetings and assessments involving educational psychologists and professionals are conducted, and parents are actively involved in developing individual learning plans and reviewing their effectiveness. |

Home-School Co-operation |
Besides arranging regular Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings for direct communication, the school and the PTA also promote home-school co-operation through different kinds of activities such as a parent-child picnic, parent-child sports day, forums and so on. Moreover, the PTA allots funds to establish scholarships to give recognition to students who have outstanding performance in Mathematics, junior secondary Integrated Science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as for those with accomplished results in public examination. The PTA also frequently sponsors students to participate in international exchange programmes in order to broaden their horizons. In addition, the PTA newsletter, 'Link' also serves as a platform for parents to express their opinions. In 2015, our school was very honoured to be awarded the first 'Most Active School in Promoting Parent Education' by the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations of Hong Kong – Eastern District. |

To enhance learning effectiveness by promoting Self-directed and Interactive Learning<br>In order to cater for learner diversity and to enhance learning effectiveness, the school aims at creating a good learning environment. In this academic year, We will include self-directed learning and interactive learning in school programmes, like using a variety of e-learning tools, to allow students with diverse needs to learn efficiently and effectively. Students will learn how to plan, implement and evaluate (PIE) their work in different programmes.<br><br>2. Enhance students' personal qualities in a healthy campus<br>This program aims at helping students to improve their physical, mental and spiritual health. They need to have a good lifestyle for a rich spiritual life and they will feel contented and grateful so that they will use their strengths to make contributions to the school and society. Our school will coordinate different committees at the school to help students cultivate healthy lifestyle through various activities and promotions. Teacher Professional Training and Development |
Staff development days are arranged three times per academic year and peer coaching is also practiced. Moreover, teachers often attend refresher courses, workshops for New senior Secondary curriculum, seminars etc to enrich themselves so as to benefit students in the course of learning. In recent years, the school has not only had professional development with Lasallian brother schools and other schools, but has also conducted Learning Circle and Learning Study, Self-directed and interactive learning strategies like flipped classroom that are related to teaching and learning with the outcome of raising teachers' teaching effectiveness to promote the effectiveness of learning. |
Life-wide Learning |
There are some forty activity groups and clubs covering five main areas - academic, service, interest, physical education and arts. Students are provided with opportunities to gain the five essential learning experiences - moral and civic education, intellectual development, community service, physical and aesthetic development and career-related experience. The school attaches importance to the development of students’ diversified potential. Our school actively encourages students to participate in different joint school or inter-school activities and competitions including Robot Design Competition, U.S. OPEN - CREATE Drones National Championship, a variety of competitions organized by different uniform groups, the Speech Festival, athletic meets and so on. The performance of our students is excellent. |
