Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity |
The school adopts Whole-School Approach to take care of the individual needs of students, continues the integrated education policy of junior secondary school, and arranges a good learning environment according to a systematic support process to allow students to integrate into campus life. The school holds a Parent-Child Orientation Day every year, inviting parents to participate in parent-child communication workshops and related lectures to help students adapt and integrate into campus life as soon as possible. The school also adopts a dual-class-teacher system to provide comprehensive care for students.<br>The school adopts diversified teaching techniques and auxiliary tools to design suitable teaching materials for students according to the different learning needs of students. The whole school actively promotes self-directed learning and encourages students to prepare for the lessons before class which helps reduce differences in students' learning. In the teaching environment, the school gives full play to the spirit of mutual help among peers, teaching through collaborative learning and assigning different roles according to students' abilities and talents, so that every student can participate in the class and conduct related classroom duties according to their own roles. Approach to Integrated Education |
In response to the individual differences and special educational needs of students, the school provides high-quality educational services to help every student develop their full potential. It also encourages teachers and students to respect each other's individual differences and create an inclusive campus together. <br>The school adopts measures to provide more comprehensive care and appropriate arrangements to identify and support students with special needs as early as possible. The school also provides teachers with special education-related professional training to support students’ needs. We also set up regular meetings to follow up, review and provide appropriate assistance to students’ learning and support. The school attaches great importance to home-school cooperation and thus establishes a constant communication mechanism with parents to understand the needs of students and discuss strategies to support students together. There are two registered social workers in our school servicing students and their parents in their studies and life needs.<br>The school also provides special examination arrangements for students with special educational needs, such as extending exam duration, enlarging exam papers and reading exam papers by computer screen reading and software. The school assists in applying for special arrangements in public exam according to the evaluation report from the experts. |

Teacher Professional Training and Development |
Teacher development and training provide teachers to understand the goals and policy of the school so as to enhance their sense of belonging to the school and the spirit of working as a team. Throughout the Staff Development Days, teachers are encouraged to take part in various workshops, seminars and discussions so that they have more chances to exchange the experiences. As a consequence, teachers' competence in teaching, classroom management skills, counselling skills and so on can be enhanced. |
Life-wide Learning |
Life-wide learning aims to provide students with diversified learning opportunities, that is, learning in a real environment, learning through practice, and learning through communication with people from different backgrounds and industries.<br>1. Arranging students to visit different institutions to apply their subject knowledge in a real environment and gain learning experience through practice.<br>2. Inviting professionals from different fields to host lectures and arrange activities. Schools may also arrange students to visit the workplace of the professionals to broaden their horizons.<br>3. Participating in subject-related exhibitions, competitions, or organize community activities, etc. in which students can apply their knowledge and skills they have learned and gain group work and collaboration experiences. |
