Language Policy To ensure that students master competent language skills in Chinese, English and Putonghua, students are assigned to EMI or CMI classes according to the wishes of students, their primary school results, S.1 Attainment Test and English Teacher Assessments in S.1 Bridging Course.
Learning and Teaching Strategies 1. Make good use of the curriculum, assessments, and adjustments of teaching strategies to cater for learning diversity. Some subjects are taught in small groups to achieve the goal of teaching students in accordance with their abilities.<br>2. In order to cultivate students' generic skills and enable them to learn independently, the school organizes various interdisciplinary activities, life-wide learning days, project learning, overseas visits and exchange programs, and other diverse learning activities.<br>3. We offer abundant and diverse learning resources and activities to encourage autonomous learning, e.g. library, book fair, e-learning platform etc.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X. Senior Form students can freely choose among selective subjects according to their abilities and interests.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: Our school adjusts the curriculum and develops school-based curriculum according to students’ needs. <br>(1) Graded worksheets and textbooks of different levels of difficulty are adopted to cater for learner diversity. Different versions of assessment papers are also set following DSE practice.<br>(2) All students are divided into groups based on their abilities to cater learning diversities.<br>(3) A package of school-based materials of basic knowledge is integrated into Chinese curriculum. Junior form students are required to read aloud classical poetry before lessons.

Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation Parent-Teacher association organizes various kinds of parent-teacher cooperation activities, for example:<br>1. School Life Experience Day for Parents: Parents and their children have class and lunch together, so that the parents can experience their children’s school life. Parents will share their inspirations, have a school tour and take part in a workshop for educating children.<br>2. Parent-Child Trip Day: Our school leads parents and students to visit local universities, and at the same time invites our alumni for sharing sessions in order to encourage the students to work hard. Parents and students may also go to other educational sites in Hong Kong.<br>3. Old Books Sales Activity: The Activity is held in summer vocation every year. Our students are encouraged to sell their old books at a low price to students of lower form. On one side, the old books will not be wasted and students can develop their awareness of recycling. On the other hand, parents may allow their children to buy and sell books in a safe environment, and save family expenses.<br>4. Parent-Child Fun Day: Parents and students participate in academic, sports or arts activities together to build closer bound in parent-child relationship.<br>5. Parents’ Meetings are held on a regular basis for parents to learn more about their child’s academic performance and personal growth.
School Ethos Excellent school ethos is the tradition of Heung To Middle School. Two class teachers approach is adopted to guide students’ growth. In addition to daily teaching work, class teachers are responsible for students’ moral education. Communication with parents is enhanced through regular home visits.
School Development Plan 1. To reinforce National Security Education, enhance the sense of national identity and cultivate students’ love for motherland.<br>2. To let students enjoy learning and love reading.<br>3. To provide different life planning support to help students establish life goals and improve their life skills.
Teacher Professional Training and Development Our school promotes continuous learning among our teachers to strengthen their professional abilities, in order to keep up with the needs of social and education development. For example, our school holds teachers’ workshop on a regular basis, arranges our teachers to take part in seminars and competition organized by the Education Bureau and other educational institutions, and provides chances for knowledge exchange with other partner schools.
Life-wide Learning 1. We promote “one skill for each student” in junior forms to stimulate students’ potential. We arrange different tours (e.g. Singapore, Korea, Taiwan etc.) to broaden students’ horizons.<br>2. “Brand” activities, for example: rope skipping team, cheerleading team, dance team, choir and Chinese and English choral team.<br>3. Our students took part in World Rope Skipping Championships and World Cheerleading Championships and won awards. Our students won champion, excellence awards, and gold medal in contest of our district and Hong Kong. Also, our students have broken records during inter-school competition.<br>4. Our school has been cooperated with Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong. We have coaches and athletes from Hong Kong athlete team come to our school and train the students on campus, in order to enhance students’ interest, technique and confident towards sports.<br>5. Our school has hold art exhibition in our area. We performed during international events in Hong Kong, and were invited by government organization, district council, professional groups and district organizations, e.g. parade on Chinese New Year, Asia-Pacific Robot Contest, Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon etc.<br>6. Our school has media coverage from BBC, TVB, Cable TV, DBC, TVB Weekly, Ming Pao, Sing Tao Daily, Smart Parents etc.
