Language Policy The implementation of Chinese as a medium of instruction (MOI) in junior forms takes place in accordance with the fine-tuned MOI policy. Depending on their English proficiency and the benefit, students are assigned to different range of English conducted lessons in different subjects. In order to foster the learning effectiveness, split class teaching is implemented in the English subject to cater for the individual need. Additionally, lunchtime activities, cross-curricular programmes, and an overseas study trip are aimed at enhancing the students’ interest in language learning and proficiency.
Learning and Teaching Strategies Our school emphasizes writing two languages and speaking three languages. Curricula are designed to develop students' multiple intelligences. To facilitate students in learning English, small groups are conducted. Students have to attend tutorial or study review class after school everyday. Different learning programmes have been launched to enhance the learning atmosphere of the school.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students can either take three elective subjects or two elective subjects and one Applied Learning subject according to their own abilities and interest. Including: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Chinese History, History, Geography, Economics, BAFS, DAT, ICT, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Applied Learning, M1<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: All programmes designed in our school aim to foster students’ learning interest and motivation. They serve the purposes of both remedial and enriched learning.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity To cater for learners' diversity, our curriculum and homework policy for junior form comprises of two levels - the challenging and foundational levels.
Approach to Integrated Education Our school adopts the "Whole School Approach" model in order to implement integrated education. The Student Learning Support Unit, which includes the Deputy Principal, Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Special Educational Needs Support Teacher, Chinese and English teachers, counsellors, and teaching assistants, supports students with special educational needs. Through the systematic programme design which involves individual education plan, diversified teaching strategies, optimized stratified coursework, homework, and test adjustments, we aim to cater for students' learning differences and improve their learning outcomes.<br>With the aid of the Learning Support Grant, our school has procured the following policies:<br>1. Outsourcing services, such as social training teams, group and individual counselling and after-school tutoring are able to put into effect.<br>2. Scheme of hiring additional staff to provide support and counselling for student with special educational needs and non-Chinese speaking students with special educational needs.<br>3. Services offered by a Speech Therapist and Educational Psychologist are implemented to help identify and assist students who are in need.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation Our school has developed a very successful relationship between home and school. Through the monthly prayer meetings and parents’ meetings with the principal and parents, our school is able to create a very effective channel to listen to parents’ voice and react promptly. Our parents not only positively support the belief of our school, but also actively work along with us to organise community services. The setup of PTA Scholarship is to award the students with their outstanding academic performance.
School Ethos As our school places importance of students' character building, we adopt the strategy of integrating discipline and counseling policies. Together with our school social worker and Religious Affairs Committee, our school aims to foster a caring and supportive environment to our students. In order to provide a venue for organizing activities and offering counseling services, our school has recently established a students’ activity centre to serve these purposes. To extend students' potential, EDB funded programs - SMILES and SMARTS are introduced for S.1 to S.3 students.
School Development Plan The central focus theme of the Year will be "Achieve your potential live a positive life" while emphasis will be laid on:<br>1. To cater for and address students’ diverse learning needs and abilities;<br>2. To nurture students’ positive values and attitudes;<br>3. To enhance the professional capacity of teachers and staff.
Teacher Professional Training and Development The School has designed various staff development programs including staff development days and workshops, study tours, inter-school observations, peer lesson observations, common lesson planning periods, which aim at upgrading the qualities of teaching and learning.
Life-wide Learning To explore each student's talents to full potential, we adopt the ‘one student: one activity’ approach. Each student is encouraged to take up one physical or aesthetic activity. More than 50 extra-curricular activities offered by our school.
