Language Policy 1. In junior forms, English is adopted as the MOI in some classes for teaching Science, Mathematics, Geography and Computer Literacy. Meanwhile, the school progressively allocates more time for students in other classes to learn the subjects in English.<br>2. Streaming is adopted in Secondary One, Five and Six to cater for students’ learning needs. Four classes of Secondary One are divided into five groups in English lessons. In Secondary Five and Six, four classes are further streamed into six groups to provide the best care possible.<br>3. We have a strong team with experienced English teachers. English teachers have passed the English benchmark test and completed the required professional training.<br>4. Weekly activities "English Thursday", all morning assemblies, English ambassadors’ activities, speech days, graduation ceremonies and sports days are conducted in English. English Day Camp is hosted by native English-speaking instructors during the summer. We also work with our sister primary schools to provide them with phonics and speaking programmes.<br>5. Our school organized English learning tours to Singapore and Australia. We have actively participated in the Caretakers of the Environment International (CEI) even during the pandemic to provide students an opportunity to discuss environmental issues with other students from around the world.<br>6. Formal reading lessons (on every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday), inter-form “Reading Salon” and book sharings among teachers and students, reading report award scheme, book crossing corners and immersed reading programmes are organized throughout the school year.
Learning and Teaching Strategies 1. Professional knowledge driven: Continuous reflection and implementation of effective curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation with reference to education theories and latest curriculum and assessment guides.<br>2. Promoting blended learning: The “BYOD” policy is implemented in all classes (begins in 2016). Apart from paper-based materials, students and teachers are well-equipped to use the electronic learning management system (LMS) for instruction and learning. We believe it helps to enhance learning effectiveness and cultivate a self-directed learning habit of students.<br>3. The curriculum matches current needs. Apart from subject-based knowledge, we emphasize the development of capabilities, habits and attitude for life-long learning.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. 14 elective subjects are offered for students to choose.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: School management and staff are experienced in school-based curriculum development. “STEM” curriculum is implemented in normal lessons, emphasizes problem solving skills. “Integrated Humanities” places emphasize on concept application and generalization; “Integrated Sciences” emphasizes scientific inquiry and project learning.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity 1. Our School caters for students' learning diversity in various aspects. The strategies adopted are:<br> a. Group teaching is adopted in the core subjects of Secondary 1 and 6. Curriculum, learning content and teaching strategies are adjusted accordingly to better cater for the diverse needs of students.<br> b. After-school homework classes are arranged for students to consolidate their classroom learning after school every day.<br> c. After-school group tutorials are launched to facilitate students of the senior form elective subjects to reach their potential.<br> d. Academic contest teams and societies provide opportunities for students with different talents and interests to apply and extend their classroom learning by participating in international and territory-wide competitions, organizing speech and debates, field trips, as well as subject promotion activities in campus.<br>2. Whole school approach is adopted to promote integrated education.
Approach to Integrated Education Student Support Team, with Special Educational Needs Coordinator, Special Educational Needs Support Teachers, counselors, educational psychologist and speech therapist as team members, is established to coordinate school policies and programmes to cater for student diversity. Whole school approach is adopted to promote integrated education. We provide various training services such as speech, social skills and learning skills for our students. Our teachers work cooperatively with professionals to convene case conferences and assessments. Parents are informed about students’ learning progress and are involved in the evaluation of the measures taken.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation Our school values the communication with parents to let students receive better guidance in their growth and learning. Parents give highly positive appraisal to our school. Home-School relationship is extremely good.

By following the spirit of the school motto of “Vos Parate Ut Serviatis”, students have developed decent personal character and positive attitude towards life. Through serving the community, students have been living out a life of higher level of moral values.

Teacher Professional Training and Development 1. Around 60% of our teachers have obtained master degrees or above. 100% have completed bachelor degree. All Chinese, English and Mathematics teachers have completed subject-related training. All language teachers pass the Language Proficiency Assessment.<br>2. Professional support: Regular professional development activities are held to upgrade the professional knowledge and attitude of the teachers. Our school also benefits from the service of teacher-education specialists acting as volunteer professional development consultants. <br>3. Learning community: Teachers are open-minded to enrich their subject knowledge and refresh their pedagogy. They are willing to share among themselves through collaborative lesson preparations, peer lesson observations.
Life-wide Learning Extended curriculum activities are extensions of our formal curriculum, including a rich variety of content and a multiplicity of modes.<br>1. Academic contest teams and societies (which won international and local awards in recent years);<br>2. Sports Teams;<br>3. Cultural Teams: Orchestras (instruments are upgraded by a $200K funding), school TV crew, etc;<br>4. Service Teams: Student Union, prefects, houses, guidance ambassadors, uniform groups, social service group, etc;<br>5. Interest clubs<br>These activities and also the whole-school leadership training programmes allow students with different talents to fully develop their potential. Scholarships and financial support are provided to enable students to participate in activities beyond the school and overseas -- travel scholarships, awards for youth conferences, long and short term courses, visits and study tours, and opportunities to experience living overseas.
