Language Policy We create a language-rich environment to facilitate language acquisition advocating Bi-literacy and Tri-lingualism. A Native English Teacher is employed and various activities are held to boost the confidence of students in speaking English, such as English Speech Festival, English Drama. Online English Extensive Reading Scheme and Chinese Extensive Reading Scheme have been implemented.
Learning and Teaching Strategies 1. Different strategies are implemented to cater for students' learning diversity.<br>2. Collaborative lesson planning and peer lesson observation are conducted to enhance the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Students are motivated to express themselves by questioning and they are encouraged to participate in project learning. A wide range of activities are organised so as to further enhance students' learning motivation. <br>3. Students are grouped according to abilities and teaching materials are tailor-made for various levels. Challenging tasks will be given to more-able students and public examinations will be arranged for students.<br>
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X. 9 Qualification Framework Courses, Information and Communication Technology (DSE/School-based curriculum), Technology and Living, Integrated Science, Visual Arts (DSE) and Life skills<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: - We provide a six-year secondary education for students with diverse learning needs. Students with higher abilities will sit for HKDSE.<br>- Fundamental curriculum is set for junior form students, apart from the school-based curriculum, career training, Qualification Framework courses, applied learning will also be provided for senior form students.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity We cater for students with learning diversity under a whole-school approach.
Approach to Integrated Education Our school is committed to cultivating an inclusive school culture and caring campus to support students with special educational needs through the whole school approach. We provide diversified support services for SEN students to enhance their learning effectiveness. Members of the Student Support Team include the Special Education Needs Coordinator, three Special Education Needs Support Teachers, two School-based Speech Therapists, a Student Counselor, Teaching Assistants and Educational Psychologists. Training will be provided to teachers by the Special Educational Needs Coordinators and Educational Psychologists will provide teachers with training to support students with special educational needs. Learning Support Grants will be used to recruit additional staff, including student counselors, teaching assistants and teachers who have received special education training in supporting SEN students. Meanwhile, outsourcing professional services including social skills training groups and occupational therapy services will be provided at school. The school also provides special arrangement (including homework, test and examination) for SEN students. Our interdisciplinary team provides assessment, referral and individual education plans for students with serious educational needs. In addition, the school has been implementing the Peer Counselling program to help students adapt to new environment.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation Parents Teachers Association always works with the school in coordinating and participating in school activities e.g. parenthood workshops, seminars, Sports Day, Open Day, parent volunteer and parents' sharing sessions, etc.
School Ethos 1. School ethos : full of "Love" and "Care" so as to fulfill our Christian mission, learning and sharing throughout the whole life.<br>2. School-based support in discipline and guidance is provided to strengthen students' confidence and self-esteem. Referral services will also be provided.<br>3. Career Guidance and Counselling Committee provides vocational training and work placement programme with the non-governmental organizations. In addition to providing individualized career planning guidance and counselling for senior form students, the school has organized and arranged several ongoing workplace internship programmes for students annually.
School Development Plan We implement various Service Learning Programmes to enhance students' interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills and generic skills. As well as our 9 Qualification Framework Courses, our school serves as a Service Learning Hub to nurture students' soft skills through serving different guests as well as to explore opportunities for better career aspiration. Regarding the transition from school-to-work, systemic training programmes have been incorporated into our school curriculum and students are provided with lots of opportunities to practise what they have learnt including training programmes on Sports & Adventure Ambassadors, Transport Ambassadors, Bus Ambassadors, Serving Ambassadors, Photography Ambassadors and Home Repair & Maintenance Ambassadors etc.
Teacher Professional Training and Development 1. The majority of teachers completed special education training;<br>2. More than half of the teachers have completed a Masters' degree;<br>3. Teachers actively engaged in continuing education to align with school's development.
Life-wide Learning We provide a variety of extra-curricular activities to develop students' cultural awareness, physical literacy and practical skills, e.g. adventure training, Boys Brigade, Christian Fellowship, Sensory Integration Training Exercise, Chinese & English Drama, Reading for Fun Programme, Sports & Adventure Training, etc. Serving the Community activities will be held every year under co-curricular activities to enrich students' other learning experiences.
