Language Policy To implement the biliterate and trilingual strategy, we encourage students to learn the languages through classroom learning, reading programs, English Day and English Week activities, Chinese Culture Week, recitation competitions, debate competitions, English camps, and overseas excursions. Additionally, Chinese Language, English Language, Putonghua (Mandarin) Language, and library teachers regularly promote English broadcasting activities during morning assemblies to improve students' confidence and competence in using multiple languages for communication.
Learning and Teaching Strategies Our teachers make effective use of e-learning, designing classroom activities and assignments to cultivate students' general abilities and enhance their overall learning capabilities. Each subject reviews its curriculum content, incorporating core and extended components to cater to students' learning abilities and interests, providing differentiated instruction. Teachers also strive to optimize the design of examination papers, aiming for more accurate assessment of students' learning outcomes. We prioritize interactive teaching and learning, where teachers employ higher-order questioning techniques and group activities to enhance students' learning effectiveness. We also emphasize the improvement of lesson design and grading quality, providing feedback to students based on their performance to promote the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Our school also places great emphasis on cultivating students' good reading habits and positive attitudes, fostering self-directed learning. In terms of curriculum arrangement, we have introduced a learning skills subject to teach students reading techniques and promote a reading culture. In senior high school, students not only study the four core subjects but also have the opportunity to choose two to three subjects from a selection of thirteen based on their interests and abilities. Along with class teacher periods, values education classes, physical education, music, applied learning courses, and other learning experiences, the school aims to provide students with an engaging and diverse educational environment.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students select two to three electives from 13 subjects.
2. Curriculum highlights: The school is overseen by the Academic and Educational Development Department, which has nine committees responsible for different aspects of teaching and learning evaluation. We collaborate with external education consultants to develop our curriculum. We have a school-wide reading program to improve students' language skills and self-learning abilities. We have also introduced a new Creative Technology Education subject from Form 1 to Form 3, which incorporates STEAM elements to enhance students' interest in learning and nurture their creative thinking skills. Additionally, we offer thematic study courses in specific subjects to develop students' general abilities. Besides core and elective subjects, our senior high school curriculum includes applied learning courses tailored to students' interests and abilities.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity According to students' own abilities, the assessment on SEN are carried out to evaluate and adjust their learning activities with help from students' parents and also the professional support from the school social worker and school-based educational psychologist. Our school will also hire experts to provide counselling services for SEN students, such as a Speech Therapist. Moreover, the school will adjust the curriculum, pedagogy and assessments to cater for students' learning diversity.
Approach to Integrated Education The school promotes an inclusive culture, values holistic education, and focuses on students' academic achievements, interpersonal skills, and physical and mental well-being. The school has established a "Learning Support Committee" comprising of Vice Principals, the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), the Special Educational Needs Support Teacher (SENST), the in-house educational psychologist, and the speech therapist. They provide interdisciplinary learning support to students, aiming to develop their gifted potential, cater to individual differences, and showcase learning outcomes through collaboration between school and home. The school adopts a "three-tier support model" to create an inclusive environment and address students' diverse educational needs. It offers appropriate curriculum adaptations, instructional adjustments, peer support, teacher collaboration, classroom management, and assessment modifications to students. The school is concerned about non-Chinese speaking students' learning of Chinese language and their ability to use Chinese for cross-curricular learning. It also focuses on supporting newly arrived students in their classroom integration. The school encourages teachers to participate in the Education Bureau's foundational, advanced, and thematic courses ("Three-tier Courses") to enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in catering to students with special educational needs. The school also organizes regular in-house training activities to deepen teachers' professional knowledge and skills in addressing different learning needs.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation The Parent-Teacher Association was established in 2000. Parents support the educational goals of our school and actively participate in various school functions. There will be 3 Parents meetings and Parents Day this academic year. These functions serve to facilitate communication between parents and teachers for the support of students. The Parent-Teacher Association organizes various kinds of activities and training courses for parents to foster the cooperation between parents and school. It also reinforces a sense of belonging for the students.
School Ethos Having an immaculate ethos, we are concerned with the success of every single student. We work vigorously with team spirit to help each student in his/her education and growth. Concerned with upgrading our education standard, we continuously invite resources from the community and other outside parties. Together with school counselors and psychologists, we provide students with complete services for counseling, and contact students' parents regularly. Various award schemes have been founded. Programmes for improvement of behaviours and study are also provided for students in need. In 2001, the Student Union was founded to encourage students to develop their potentials in leadership and cooperation. The Alumni of the College was established in January 2004.
School Development Plan 1. Providing students with diversified learning opportunities.
2. Strengthening the development of values education.
3. Enhancing professional development for teachers.
Teacher Professional Training and Development The school places great emphasis on the professional development of teachers. Every academic year, we hold preparatory meetings and peer observations in every subject, where we share teaching experiences to enhance the quality of teaching. The school also encourages teachers to participate in courses or seminars organized by the Education Bureau, keeping up with the latest information in the education field and improving their professional skills.
We have a "New Teachers Support Program" in place, where newly employed teachers are assigned mentors to assist them in their daily work. Additionally, we organize three school-based professional development days for all teachers to discuss various educational issues and enhance their professional skills.
Life-wide Learning Diverse activity groups are provided and categorized as academia, music, interests, art, servicing, recreation, sports etc. Annual competitions among houses and classes will be held during the year. Activities and seminars on ethics, sex education, health education, ecology and civil education will be arranged too. We are keen on participating in inter-school extracurricular activities, academic, music, sports, services and field studies with TWGHs schools. We aim to ensure students achieve outstanding results in different aspects.
