Learning and Teaching Strategies We expect students to grow to be men of integrity and with independent thinking. Students should respect and treasure Chinese tradition and culture as well as Christianity. We are born to serve others - We are "men for and with others". We aim at developing students in the following areas - moral, intellectual, physical, social, aesthetic, and spiritual through the formal and informal curricula so as to achieve a holistic education of our gentlemen. Reading schemes are held by English, Chinese, and Putonghua Panels. In F.1 & 2, STEAM learning activities are organized to strengthen their cognitive and problem-solving skills in Science and Mathematics. To strengthen our technology education, we have introduced a new school-based IDEEA (Innovation, Design, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Arts) curriculum in junior forms, through which our young gentlemen have the opportunity to engage in Project-based Learning formulated through the Design Thinking model and “hands-on making” experience.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 3X. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Chinese History, Geography, Economics, ERS, BAFS, ICT<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: Elective subjects are provided to satisfy, as far as practicable, students' aspirations as expressed in the survey when they are in F.3. To sustain our emphasis on the humanities in Jesuit education, History, Chinese History and Geography are still provided in our senior education besides science subjects and commerce subjects as long as resources permit.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity Trained teachers are assigned to take care of students with special educational needs. Fresh graduates may also apply for scholarships and grants donated by alumni to support their further studies in Hong Kong or overseas.
Approach to Integrated Education Our school aims at building an inclusive and caring learning community through a “whole school approach” in supporting SEN students. Our SEN Support Committee consists of the SEN Coordinator, the SEN Support Teacher, Counselling Committee Chair, School Social Workers, Student Counsellors and Educational Psychologists. With the flexible use of the Learning Support Grant and other school funding resources, we have employed a teacher assistant and outsourced services in catering for students’ learning and social needs. Depending on the cases concerned, services such as professional assessments, individual education plans and professional referrals are available.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students
Home-School Co-operation The Parent-Teacher Association was set up in 1997. The activities held include F.1 & F.2 Parents Seminar, Teachers' Day, voluntary services, a picnic, talks, values education workshops, participating in a fund-raising walkathon and supporting an exchange programme with Beijing and Irish secondary schools. In addition, we have adopted eNotice and ePayment, to facilitate efficient administrations and effective communications between the school and parents.
School Ethos We emphasize freedom and leading of a simple life. Students are encouraged to take part in various extra-curricular activities in order to achieve balanced developments and leadership.
School Development Plan Our major concerns for the year are "Guiding students in identifying their interests and building their vision and self-confidence for the future"; "Equipping students with skills and knowledge for advanced learning"; "Enhancing administrative efficiency for extending Cura Personalis to teachers and unlocking their capacity to accompany students".
