Language Policy Since 2009-2010, we have fine-tuned our language policy. English lesson depends on the actual abilities of our students. Different English activities hold in lunch time. Also, we design diversified courses for the more able students. Native-speaking English Teachers (NET) train up listening and speaking. English is adopted as the Medium of Instruction for Maths, Integrated Science, Computer & Information Technology, Physics and Chemistry in some of our junior secondary classes. Besides, English is adopted as the Medium of Instruction for Maths and Chemistry in some of our senior secondary classes. <br>Putonghua is adopted as the Medium of Instruction for Chinese in some of our junior secondary classes. School-based Putonghua is as senior secondary classes.
Learning and Teaching Strategies With a view to developing our student to be independent and confident, we encourage student to have high participation in small classes. <br>We place emphasis on moral values, academic performance and whole-person development through various extra-curriculum activities.
School-based curriculum 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information and Communications Technology, Mathematics Extended Parts (Module 2), Chinese History, History, Geography, Economics, Applied Learning and Tourism & Hospitality Studies, Visual Arts, Applied Learning, School-Based Putonghua.<br> 2. Curriculum highlights: To help students effectively achieve their learning goals, our school’s curricula designs are chiefly student-centered and school-based. We offer subjects like Life & Society and STEAM. We stress the use of original texts and the teaching of classical Chinese in the Chinese Language subject. We focus on students’ subject knowledge acquisition, keeping in mind to cater for their learning diversities. <br><br>Gifted education:<br>We design diversified courses for the more able students, such as IMO classes, classes on camera drones, public speaking training for the gifted, mind training classes, etc. We also enroll students in courses for the gifted offered by some tertiary education institutes, to help students reach their full potential by building on their strengths.
Approach to Catering for Learner Diversity We offer a range of enhancement programmes, to cite a few, the Subject Enhancement Course and SEN homework support, to offer assistance to students with diverse learning needs.
Approach to Integrated Education Our school adopts the whole school approach in implementing integrated education. Students with special education needs are supported by the SEN Support Team(including vice-principal and SENCO, members of the team, SEN ATs, coaching teacher and teaching assistant). In raise teachers’ professional competence, teachers are nominated to take courses related to integrated education. With parents’ consent, the team collects students’ information so as to identify students’ education needs and offer support for the students. Our school also adopts a flexible approach in making use of the Learning Support Grant and other school resources to provide diverse support to students, including SEN ATs and coaching teacher. Support also comprises homework tutoring, interpersonal skills’ training and individual counselling. Service like clinical psychologist is also provided to students with related needs. To meet students’ diverse learning needs and raise their learning efficacy, curriculum design, diverse teaching strategies, graded exercise, homework and assessment accommodations are also adopted. Our school works closely with the EDB, the education psychologist, social worker and other professionals to conduct meetings regularly. Parents are also invited to join them to formulate individualized education plan and evaluate its effectiveness on a regular basis so as to assist parents to teach their children well.
Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) Students

Teacher Professional Training and Development 1. We focus on teachers’ professional development. Consultants with subject expertise, like Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics and Liberal Studies, are our learning partners.<br>2. We pay attention to the training of junior form teachers in the teaching strategies pertinent to Co-operative Learning.<br>3. We give senior form teachers ample exposure and guidance on Self-Regulated Learning.<br>4. We make strides in implementing school-based methodological study through the practice of learning circles and co-lesson planning.<br>5. We enhance school-based teachers’ professional development through closely-knitted collaboration with tertiary institutes.
Life-wide Learning Our school has our own Student Union, Form Houses, and more than 20 functioning groups encompassing 5 different areas such as academics, arts, physical education, personal interests and services. We organize various school-wide activities regularly, such as sports days, singing contests, local and cross-border study tours, etc. We strongly encourage students to participate in many voluntary services inside and outside school, even mandating all Form Four and Form Five students to join some. We also offer students some ‘life experimental tours’ outside Hong Kong.
